Effect of chain length on rates of uptake of free fatty acids during in vitro incubations of rat adipose tissue.

چکیده
The incorporation into triglycerides of l-14Clabeled saturated free fatty acids (FFA) of different chain lengths (CrC,,) was studied using incubation of rat epididymal fat pads in vitro. The results indicate that the rate at which adipose tissue incorporates FFA is dependent on chain length. With very short-chain acids a small amount is directly esterified into triglycerides, but the major portion is elongated and esterified. Analyses by means of Factice chromatography showed that acids with a chain length of 10 or longer were esterified without elongation.

The aim of this research was to investigate the changes in milk yield and its composition, fatty acid profile and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors gamma (PPARG) gene expression in adipose tissue of Iranian Holstein cattle in response to feeding isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets but formulated based on different oilseeds (soybean or canola seeds). Twenty cows were tested ra...
متن کاملThe Association of Omentin Gene Expression in Visceral and Subcutaneous Adipose Tissues with Plasma Fatty Acids Profile and Dietary Fatty Acids
Introduction: Omentin, an adipokine, with anti-inflammatory effects reduces insulin resistance, and can hence, play an important role in prevention of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The present study aimed to investigate the association of plasma and dietary fatty acids with gene expression of omentin in visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissues. Materials and Methods: Visceral and subcut...
متن کاملThe effect of omega- 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids on endothelial tight junction occludin expression in rat aorta during lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation
Objective(s): Occludin is essential for proper assembly of tight junctions (TJs) which regulate paracellular endothelial permeability. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (Ω-3 PUFA) protect endothelial barrier function against injury. Materials and Methods: We examined anti-inflammatory effect of Ω-3 PUFA intake (30 mg/kg/day for 10 days) on expression and location of occludin in the aorta of ...
